First Day with Dad in Vienna

Today we went to Schonnbrun (shoonbroon) with my dad. This is the first day he came. Whenever dad left he took the charger for the camera with him even though we still had the camera. So we could not load the pictures on to the blog. Sorry for the inconvenience. These are my parents standing in front of Schonnbrun. It is a palace in Vienna. It is bigger than what you see. It belonged to Queen Maria Theresa and her 17 children with Franz Joseph.

After lunch we went to the Prater. The Prater is the fair in Vienna and it lasts all year long. I love the Prater. Who doesn't? OK, back to the specifics. So first we went to the super top dance. Its a funhouse.

This is a picture of the RiesenRad. It is the oldest Ferris wheel in the world.

This is a picture of the cart. Our cart was number 5. It is really old. The carts are all made out of wood and you are allowed to smoke in there!!!??? That's crazy. Why would someone smoke that high in the air in something that is made out of wood, and you know doesn't fire burn wood.

This is Uncle Cyril and my dad in the cart. They would not smoke in there because they know what would happen. This is how we know you can smoke in it. Because you can have a fancy dinner or a luncheon, which is lunch, in the carts and there were ashtrays.

My dad is queen Maria Theresa and I am some blue mermaid. We are being crazy.

After that we went to the swings. The swings are little seats hanging by chains in the air connected to something sort of the shape of a merry go round but a lot bigger. They swing up into the air in circles, round and round and round and round, really high. They are awesome!!!

This was my favorite thing to eat in Vienna, weiner schnitzel. (veener snitsul) . It is like country fried steak but with veal. It is a baby cow and it is a lot better with lemon juice if you like it.

This was my dessert. It was chocolate cake, vanilla mousse, chocolate cake, fudge bar.

Uncle Cyril's Big Day

Today Uncle Cyril has to present the United Nations Commission (over 60 nations.) This is very important and will be the first time he has done that in Vienna. We had a feast.

Today we went the Science and Technology Museum. We are at the top floor looking at airplanes.

We are looking at a big gear shaft. The museum is about machines, airplanes and electronics. My favorite thing was getting to make things happen with science stuff.

Here is a steel crucible. It is huge. It is a large cauldron for mixing elements that make steel ingots.

steel ingot

After we got back from the museum we went to the market and bought everything you will see following. The market is called the Naschmart and we call this our nasch dinner. These are the berries we found. They are very sour. They substitute lemons. I can eat them so I do not get white spots on my teeth like lemons give me.

This is Iberian ham otherwise know as Jamon. (hamon) My uncle brought it home from the commissary, the grocery store near his work. We forgot to tell you about it earlier so we put it on a later post. It is better than prosciutto. (proshooto)

Sisi Museum

Today we are going to the Sisi Museum otherwise know as the Hof burg palace. This is my second palace in Vienna. We are in St. Agustine's church. On the way we went in here.

In the Sisi Museum, we went to the silver collection. It is not all silver. They just call it that.

These are the trays they used at the coronation of Franz Joseph.

You see silver. Do you see anything else? No.

This is more silver. These are sterling silver wine labels.

This video is sideways. Sorry for the inconvenience. We could not take more pictures of the palace because photos are not allowed. It was better than Schunbrunn.

NOTICE!!!

We will be skipping a few days because of the camera mishap. When we get back to the US we will post the missing days. We are having a great time and doing a lot. Uncle Cyril and Aunt Chelsea are the best hosts and are showing us a great time.

Schunbrunn (schoonbroon)

Today we went to Schunbrunn Castle, not the zoo. We took a great tour inside but we do not have pictures because they are not allowed. Inside we got an audioguide that told us everything about every room. Sometimes the numbers were long and we had to skip them. Some of the numbers said "proceed to the room 99."
This is a closeup of the garden. It was very beautiful.

This is the view from the garden to the Glorietta. The Glorietta is the big building in the background. It has a nice cafe inside. I got a hot chocolate there. We did not put a picture of the food we got because dad took the cord from the camera and we cannot download the pictures. Sorry for the inconvenience of this post.

We are at the fountain before we climbed up to the Glorietta.

We are in the Glorietta. It is very beautiful. We are on the right side of it.

Dad's Arrival

Today Dad came to visit us. We are in front of the rock fountain which has russian memorial behind us. It is very windy in Vienna.

After we went to a church with Trajan's columns which belong in Rome. It was made with copper so it has a blue green color.

This is the "GOLDEN CABBAGE". It  is not really called that but Viennese people says it looks like a golden cabbage. It is a famous architectural exhibit hall.

We went to a famous apartment building. It is covered with pink flowers. It has a white building with gold next to it. You can see a little bit of it on the right. We forgot to load the picture onto the blog.

You are looking at a close up of the apartment building.

I am in front of the Natural History Museum. I came here yesterday with my aunt Chelsea. I got grossed out in part of it.

For lunch I had a hot chocolate with a lot of cream. I have been having hot chocolate every day in Vienna. It has been cold so that is why I have been having it in the summer. The cream was an inch thick.

This was the ceiling at the cafe. It used to be a place where all the artist hung out. They were allowed to smoke in there and it got very foggy. Now artists are not the same and you are not allowed to smoke  in there.

This was what my dad ate. It was fish with cauliflower sauce and cauliflower. It was delicious.

This was my desert. It was chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, then chocolate cake with cherry jam in side. I did not like the jam.  I did not know it was going to be in there. But my dessert was still pretty. Ever since I have been here I have been eating chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, chocolate cake in all of my desserts, in that order. We eat a lot of dessert in Vienna.

This is a knoodle. My dad got this for dessert. It is a fried pastry with powdered sugar on top and it had apricot jam in side.

After the cafe we went to Stephensdom. It is Effervescent Gothic. That means it is gothic but very colorful gothic. It is the famous cathedral in Vienna.

We climbed to the top and saw this. We climbed 343 steps in a spiral on very thin steps to get to the top. We could have taken the elevator and went to the shorter tower but we wanted to go to the taller tower. It made my aunt very frustrated with my mom. I love climbing towers.

This is what the roof looked like. This is what we mean by effervescence. We forgot to put a picture of the example tile. It is plaster painted with a glazed paint.

We went to the Hunterwasser museum. He was this crazy architect. Do you see the tree growing out of the window:)

This was the fountain on the inside. The stones in it are from all over the world.

These were the kooky steps up to the top. The floor was very bumpy. We were not allowed to take pictures of the artwork so this is all we can show you.

This was a building in Hunterwasser city. He does not really have a city. It is just a neighborhood.

Zoo!

Today we went to the zoo behind Schonbrunn Palace. It is the oldest zoo in the world. NOTICE: WE DID NOT TAKE THESE PICTURES EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST PICTURE THAT YOU SEE NOW. WE FORGOT OUR CAMERA.

The cheetah was the first thing we saw at the zoo. Our goal was to find a red panda and colored butt monkeys (which we did not find). My mom loved the cheetah.

This picture is of a water buffalo who was chewing on his cud sllooowllyy. He was covered in slobber.

This is a rhino. There were two at the zoo. One was muddier than the other. The one that got muddier half of his eyelid was covered in mud.

The buffalo had half hair and half no hair and it had a baby. The Vienna zoo seems bigger than the New Orleans zoo and the New Orleans zoo is huge.

After we were in the zoo for an hour we got into the bat area. There were bats hanging from the ceiling . It was a rain forest basically. While in the rain forest we went into a bat cave. My mom got freaked out. She did not want to go but there was no other way. I thought that the bat cave was awesome.

This is the white peacock from Kung Fu Panda 2.  Dad hopes that he does not try to take over china. I did not write the last sentence.  I putting him on my blog because today in the zoo we saw a white peacock walking around.
this is a real white peacock.  They do not have blades on their feathers. But they could know kung fu, but I don't know.

Today we saw a regular peacock walking around, outside of it's cage.  It dropped a feather, and I picked it up.

After the peacocks we saw a polar bear.  It was not in it's big place because they were working on it to make it better for him later.

After that we saw the penguins.  When we went inside, we saw one penguin putting it's arm out, and we pretended that it said "go away"

We finally found the red panda.  It's face looks like a cat.  Meow.

Second to last, we saw asian elephants.  This was the baby, its name was Tibula.

Last, but not least, we saw the Panda eating.  Nothing but eating.
